MIMÍ TESTED - FAKE BAKE

Testing out a FakeBake Flawless Darker Self-Tan Liquid Spray in the colour Dark.
Generally, I hate self-tanners so I was slightly (allright very) biased to test this product, self-tanners are all the same. Or are they?

Feels super embarrassing to write everything down that I've eaten, maybe this will work. I'll have to pay more attention now.

Monday

I surrendered myself to the pleasures of candy and chocolate like totally this week. How do I feel now?  Well, quite bloated actually and a bit heavy. I'm happy that I feel this way because the likeliness of this weeks splurge happening again is slim. Like I hope I'd be, haha. No, that's true though.
Into the new week I go, hope you have a great one! xoxo

What's a Lapland Hotel doing in Tampere?

Visited Tampere and instead of choosing the hotel we normally do we chose Lapland Hotels.
Sounds weird right? A Lappish hotel in a city.
Well, that's at least what I thought. Decided to notch things up and take a suite.
So how did I like the hotel and our suite? Take a look below.

How gorgeous is the lobby? I love the details, the colours. Beautiful work.

I was very very pleased. Such an original decor, still comfy and Lappish themed. The suite has a separate toilet, and a 'uuge bathroom with sauna, two showers, and two sinks.

And would you look at these door signs, they're just awesome.

In general, I think that hotel restaurants are meh but due to the hotel being so extra so far- into the restaurant Dabbal we went.

The, fantastic in my opinion, decor is continued in the restaurant and its menu. I chose a Dabbal's burger and my companion wanted to try the Fell menu (Tunturi menu).

Both got as appetizers home made breads, maltbread and unkneaded bread with dandelion served with brown butter with kuusenkerkkä (some special part/ thing from spruce which I can not find a translation to) and parsnip brown butter soup with rosemary.

Perch for him and glass of sparkling for me.

My burger and his entrecote.

This tiny thing is a called a fresher. A birch sorbet to cleanse your palette.

For dessert rhubarb pudding with elderflower sorbet.
This meal was ah mazing. Our waitress for the evening was Oona, she was superb.

I slept well in our suite, I was happy with everything.

Breakfast is served in this gorgeous high ceilinged room with a three as a centerpiece. We ordered, the normal brekkie includes tea and/ or coffee, for extra 'special cafés' as we say in Finland. There's a chef ready to make your omelets just the way you want.

Overall this hotel and its decor are the coolest I've experienced in a long time. The meals were made with love and with respect to Lappish culture and from hand picked ingredients. The staff was just superb, every single one we met.

I've never been a fan of cold and snow but in a nice hotel like this in Lapland maybe the meeting Santa trip isn't impossible, xoxo

Such a terrible week. Some days I got to eat super well and some days I only ate once and then the food was crap. Arrgh. I'm very much enjoying (some days hating) the See How You Eat Coach- app, it has loads of other features than just taking pictures of what you eat.
Happy that it's a new week, xoxo

Crepes kinda Sunday

Crepes on a Sunday and eating outside? Why not.

Crepes - serves four persons (2-3 crepes per)
  • 2,5 dl milk (whole organic milk)
  • 3 eggs
  • 2,5 dl (wheat) flour
  • a hint of salt
  • a hint of sugar
First mix the eggs and milk.
Slowly, stirring the mix, add flour.
Add the salt and sugar.
Let the dough rise 30-60 min in the fridge.
Stir the dough gently when you take it out.
Depending on your frying pan do you need to add butter etc before you start making the crepes.
Fry on one side and turn and fry the other side when the crepe is ready enough.
Repeat until dough is gone and enjoy!

I eat my crepes with only strawberry jam nothing else added.

Some go crazy and add ice cream and jam.

Finished the desserts with some café. Some serious bromance going on this picture.
Hope you had a lovely Sunday, xoxo

Testing Quarter menu at Restaurant Elite

I've lived my whole life in Helsinki yet I've never been to the legendary restaurant Elite.
It's a bit hidden at Töölö, Eteläinen Hesperiankatu 22. So close to everything yet like you're someplace very different and special. They've got a changing Quarter menu and in July it contains:

Feta cheese, melon, and lemon vinaigrette

•••

Grilled Flank steak, vegetables, and sauce Bearnaise

The lower picture is mine with just a tad modified from the original.
•••

Rhubarb sherbet and marinated strawberries

Super delish, highly recommend !

I've been using an app called See How You Eat Coach. You take a photo of your every meal, every snack.

There are other nice features which I'll get into more in another post but using this I've noticed that I tend to eat more regularly and have cut out the sweets etc from daily life to occasional. I've been very very happy with this app and how it's affected my eating,  xoxo

Mood swing days

I've lately been feeling super low and irritated. Like my battery has run out.
I am happy at times and almost at the peak of how happy can you be and then the slightest or smallest setback happens and I can't take it.

Just the other day first my phone broke and later that evening I couldn't work a video editor the way I wanted or felt most logical.
I almost threw my Mac and camera to the wall and felt like I just want to quit.

Started thinking that am I bipolar or something. What is wrong with me.

Then I spoke to my sister, both of my sisters are younger and smarter than me (seriously!), and she asked me a very very good question:
Why did I feel like I needed to take time off to myself?
I answered that because I was burned out and needed to downshift.
Well, have you been doing that? When have you had a day without your todo- list and just enjoyed your time?
Sheesh, I thought.

I seriously have been the most unemployed unemployed person. I started to post on Instagram on my new handle, then I started this blog, then I started to vlog.
I've also been trying to get companies to collaborate with me, and that means scouting, sending email, calls, meetings...
I've also been cast to do few commercials, voice-overs, still photo- shoots. I apply, almost every day there are gigs that I think would fit me, then I got to auditions...
And then back to the blog and vlog. I think about new ideas all the time. Sometimes I get super overwhelmed by the number of ideas and end up either starting many sketches or not writing or filming.
The list of undone tasks haunts me.

But back to why do, I think I've been feeling such low energy.
I think that I was so burned out, maxed out of all my energies that I have been doing too much in sense of recovery. Seen as I'm do not want to slow down I just need to accept that in order to keep up with all that I want to do the basics must be in order.
I must sleep better, I must keep focusing on my eating and do things that make me happy. Remember to have days of not doing anything.

xoxo
